Terms of Service

The short version

  • You own your data. We provide the service that lets you work with it.
  • Don't use Cocobox to attack databases you don't own, scrape, or break the law.
  • 15-day free trial, no card. After that, $25/month, cancel anytime from Profile → Billing.
  • We'll give you 30 days' notice before any meaningful change to pricing or to these Terms.
  • If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at what you paid us in the prior 12 months.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you", "Customer") and Cocobox.io ("Cocobox", "we", "us") covering your use of the cocobox.io website, application, MCP server, APIs, and related services (collectively the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

If you're using the Service on behalf of an employer or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
  • You're responsible for the security of your credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Notify devs@cocobox.io immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Authentication is handled by Auth0. You can use email/password, Google, or GitHub SSO.
  • One person per account. Share access via workspace invitations, not shared passwords.

3. Acceptable use

Don't use Cocobox to:

  • Access databases, accounts, or systems you aren't authorized to use.
  • Break laws, infringe intellectual property, or violate privacy rights.
  • Upload malware, attempt to breach our security, probe for vulnerabilities without written permission, or disrupt the Service.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or redistribute the Service or its output except as permitted by law.
  • Train a competing AI product on Cocobox's outputs.
  • Send spam, harass other users, or upload illegal content.
  • Resell or sublicense Cocobox without a written agreement with us.

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to security@cocobox.io. We won't pursue good-faith security research that follows our responsible disclosure guidelines.

4. Your content & data

  • You own it. Databases you connect, queries you write, snippets you save, and any content you upload remain your property.
  • License to us. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you and anyone you share it with.
  • Credentials. Database passwords and SSH keys are AES-256 encrypted at rest. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • Backups. We maintain encrypted backups but you are responsible for your own backups of critical data. The Service is not a backup product.

5. AI features

  • AI outputs are generated by third-party models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, GitHub Copilot, and others we add over time). They can be wrong, incomplete, or fabricate facts. Review SQL before executing it, especially on production data.
  • You're responsible for the effects of any query you run, including AI-generated queries. We recommend keeping destructive operations (DELETE, DROP, TRUNCATE) behind an explicit confirmation prompt in Cocobox.
  • If you bring your own API keys, the request and any resulting charges are governed by your agreement with that provider.
  • Cocobox-managed AI requests run under zero-retention terms with the provider. Your prompts are not used to train their models.

6. Subscriptions, trials & billing

  • Free trial: 15 days, no credit card required. At the end of the trial, paid features become unavailable unless you subscribe.
  • Price: $25/month (introductory price; regular price $30). We include 300 AI request credits per month with your subscription. Additional requests are billed via one-time top-up packs (Spark $5 / Boost $10 / Mega $25 — credits never expire) or at direct-provider cost if you bring your own key.
  • Payment: all charges are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring monthly charges to your payment method until you cancel.
  • Taxes: prices exclude VAT, GST, and other applicable taxes, which will be added where required by law.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel anytime from Profile → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. We do not issue partial-month refunds except as required by law.
  • Failed payments: we'll retry the charge up to three times and email you. Accounts with unpaid balances for more than 14 days may be suspended.
  • Price changes: we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change. Existing subscribers keep their current price through the end of the next billing period.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may perform scheduled maintenance, deploy updates, or experience downtime caused by issues outside our control (cloud provider outages, DDoS, force majeure). Status incidents are posted at our status page (link in the footer of the dashboard when live).

8. Changes to the Service

We add, change, and remove features as the product evolves. If we remove a material feature you're actively using, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and, where possible, offer a migration path.

9. Suspension & termination

  • You can close your account at any time. We purge personal data within 30 days of deletion, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create a security risk, or create an unpaid balance.
  • On termination, your right to access the Service ends. We'll give you 14 days to export your data unless termination was for a serious violation (e.g., abuse, fraud, or illegal activity).

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cocobox disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific requirements.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cocobox's total aggregate liability arising from or related to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, in which case they apply to you only to the extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Cocobox against any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Intellectual property

Cocobox, the Cocobox.io logo, the MCP SQL server implementation, and all non-user content of the Service are owned by Cocobox or its licensors and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you no rights in our marks or code except the right to use the Service as described here.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Cocobox is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country requires a different venue.

Before filing a formal dispute, please email devs@cocobox.io. Most issues are solved by a conversation.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll email you and show an in-app notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you don't agree, cancel your subscription before the change takes effect and we'll refund any unused prepaid time.
